The National Team Development Centre (NTDC) – Thunder Bay is owned and operated by Cross Country Ski Ontario and works in partnership with Nordiq Canada and the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO). Together, we provide elite cross-country skiers with comprehensive training and competition programs designed to help them excel at the highest levels of the sport.

Athletes from across the country are selected to join NTDC Thunder Bay based on their readiness for high-performance training. We look for individuals who show potential, passion, and a commitment to growing in an elite training environment. This approach ensures that we support athletes who are prepared to take on new challenges and reach their highest potential in the sport.

These dedicated individuals benefit from access to national-level coaching, world-class training facilities, and advanced sport science testing services. Throughout the competition season, which runs from late November to early April, our athletes compete at regional, national, and international competitions. Many also balance the demands of individualized training programs with their academic pursuits, demonstrating a commitment to excellence on and off the trails.

Over our 30 plus years of operation, our coaching staff has included top-tier coaches from both Canada and Finland, ensuring our athletes receive the highest standard of guidance and support.
